Healthy Forests - Healthy Waters

Healthy Forests - Healthy Waters

In partnership with the Maryland Forest Service, the Chesapeake & Atlantic Coastal Bay Trust Fund and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, the Foundation has implemented the largest tree planting program on private lands in the state.

By spring of 2020 we will have planted nearly 250,000 trees across 13 counties on 106 private landowner project sites. The goal is to achieve nutrient and sediment reductions into the Chesapeake Bay through forest management.

Through our commitment to maintain the health and success of the plantings with regular maintenance for the first 2 years, the program has seen excellent survivability rates.
